Hello Dear One,
We’re seventeen days into January – how’s it treating you?
Mine got off to a flying start. I came into the new year with boundless enthusiasm. Then, I realised a deadline for a big competition was approaching (I also write fiction): panicked, stayed up late and wrote.
The following morning I sat on my floor and felt like crying. My fearful voice was quick to tell me how terrible it was I hadn’t got something ready. It said bitter, horrible things – the kind I used to believe. This time they felt sharp and wrong because, in the words of a friend of mine, you’re the most self-compassionate person I know.
Becoming aware of your patterns is one big step, but remember you’ve relied on them for decades. It’s might not feel like it at the time, but it’s beautiful they flare up again, especially when we’re vulnerable or low. It makes these sequences or any way you actively question them, extra powerful.
Thanks for being here and being you.
All love,
Jo
