Write to Sit Still
Hello Dear One,
Yesterday I stood outside with my bare feet on the earth and the sun on my face, letting it hold me. This is what’s grounding me right now, the literal earth.
I knew this year was going to be tough to start with, but I’m devoted to maintaining my connection to self, to feeling it all. So, I committed to a thirty-day cacao journey with wonderful teacher Samantha Kleman.
I was a little cynical about cacao, the way I am when lots of people start doing the same thing at once (I wouldn’t read Harry Potter until someone gave me the book) but the ritual it brings is already revealing. Finding time to meditate every day, sit with my emotions and share them in a circle is helpful. It helps me accept what’s here, not just wish it away. And I think there’s a lesson in that. Accepting the uncomfortable. And, as ever, being compassionate with myself.
Today’s prompt is simple, but sometimes simple things are the most revelatory.
I hope it helps. Things won’t always be as we want them to be, but we are strong, resilient creatures. We will cope. Even if you think that you can’t, there’s a part of you that knows you can.
If the very idea of sitting still brings up a lot remember that everything changes, luck fails away, joy rises, pain takes us by surprise. But none of these things last forever. It’s ok to feel them. It’s ok to feel connected to your one wild and precious life, even when it feels boring, frustrating or simply tough. It’s still yours.
Thanks for being here and being you.
All my love,
Jo
