Write for A Dip in Your Mood
Hello Dear One,
How are you? Really? Put a hand over your heart and take three deep breaths. Let us always begin here.
I hope, by now, you know I tell it like it is. As in, I don’t always feel amazing. If you’re looking for perpetual positivity and an inspirational quote to stick on the wall, this probably isn’t the place for you. I’m committed to being authentic in all spaces, which means looking at the dark, as well as the light. And how we come back to the light, together.
So, truth be told, I’ve been a bit down over the last couple of days. There’s nothing tangibly ‘wrong’. It’s not uncommon, for me at least, to go through a few days of low mood. I’ve worked hard on accepting them, instead of pushing the experience away. Often, I don’t know why I’m feeling how I’m feeling, even when I journal on it. Instead, I sit with it, knowing that it will pass, which often happens quicker than I expect.
Today, feeling a little stuck, I went through the archive. Every time I do a sequence of prompts the results are different, because I’m different. I landed on the exercise below: presence. When I come back to the now it anchors me, stoppers my anxious self. I don’t do many reruns, but this one stuck out.
I hope it helps. Several questions that came up for me as I wrote: why am I feeling this way? Do I need to control things? What do I need to let go of? By the end, sure enough, my mood had lifted a little. I’m ending my day with my dog Hope asleep on my lap, feeling grateful.
If you’re not feeling low today (wonderful) hit up past letters and find something that suits. Thanks for being here, and being you.
All love,
Jo
